Deauthorizing an app or a device

It is sometime necessary to remove an application or device's authorization, for instance when it was authorized with the wrong ID or because the device belongs to someone else.

When an app or device is deauthorized, the books linked to the previous Adobe ID remain in the library, but are no longer readable. You will need to reauthorize the device or the app with the previous Adobe ID to regain access to those books.

Sony Reader

  1. Connect your e-reader to your computer. On the e-reader, choose Data transfer mode or Yes, according to your e-reader's model.

    1. In Windows

      In the Reader for PC application, open the Edit menu and click Preferences.

    2. On Mac:

      In the Reader for Mac application, open the Reader for Mac menu and click Preferences.

  2. In the Deauthorize tab, click Deauthorize for the device you want to deauthorize: the computer or the tethered device (the e-reader).

Deauthorizing the computer

  1. Press on the following keys simultaneously:

    1. In Windows: Ctrl-Shift-D
    2. On Mac: Cmd-Shift-D
  2. Click Erase Authorization.

Deauthorizing the e-reader

  1. Plug in your e-reader to your computer. On your e-reader, press Connect.

  2. In Adobe Digital Editions, select your e-reader in the Devices section.

  3. Click on the settings icon to the right of your e-reader's name and choose Erase Device Authorization.

  4. In the confirmation window, click Erase Authorization.

Bluefire Reader for iOS

  1. In your library, click on the information icon in the upper right corner.

  2. Click Deauthorize.

  1. In your library, press the settings icon in the upper right corner.

  2. Click Deactivate this device.

  1. Click on the menu icon in the upper left corner and choose About.

  2. Click Deauthorize device.
